SCHEDULE A WAKE UP CALL

Trauma Recovery & Social Engagement Theory

Both trauma and healing are full-body experiences. It is not enough for victims to be removed from danger. Their body has to feel safe to confidently resolve feelings of terror, shame and disconnection.

Our session will focus on the polyvagal nervous system, Social Engagement Theory, and empowering victims to reclaim control of their body through healing relationships.

Learning Objectives

Identify the long-term health implications of a victim’s adverse childhood experiences.

Explain the connection between biological trauma triggers and a victim’s behavioral response

Identify self-care practices to address vicarious trauma
